In this blog, we highlight some of Filtrox’s products. We focus on three typical depth filters and one treatment filter: activated carbon filter plates and modules.

Typical Depth Filters

1. Versafix (sheets) / Versadisc (modules) - XE Range 

• This versatile and budget-friendly XE range includes Versafix filter sheets and Versadisc filter modules.
• Typical applications include the filtration of food and beverages, as well as other industrial uses.
• Available in micron ratings from coarse filtration (35 µm) to fine filtration (under 1 µm).

2. Fibrafix (sheets) / Fibradisc (modules) - AF-/XS-/SY Range 

This high-quality range of depth filters is produced under strictly controlled conditions and consists of three subcategories:

• AF Range: Made from high purity cellulose, this range is suitable for premium food and beverages. Available from coarse filtration to sterile filtration (30 µm to 0.2 µm).
• XS Range: Specially developed for distilled beverages, with lower levels of calcium, magnesium, and iron compared to standard depth filters. Available from fine filtration to sterile filtration (9 µm to 0.2 µm).
• SY Range: Made with synthetic fibers for structural reinforcement. Benefits include better wet resistance, higher flow capacity, and a longer lifespan. Available from fine filtration to sterile filtration (12 µm to 0.4 µm).

3. Purafix (sheets) / Puradisc (modules) - CH-/PF-/ZP Range 

These filter sheets and modules are ideal for demanding filtration applications, such as pharmaceutical and biotechnological processes. They are characterized using very pure raw materials and are produced under strictly controlled conditions. Each subcategory offers unique benefits:

• CH Range: Excellent for applications requiring very low concentrations of extractable endotoxins and ions, such as the production of APIs and vaccines. Available from coarse filtration to sterile filtration (35 µm to 0.04 µm).
• PF Range: Contains very low amounts of beta-glucans, ideal for plasma fractionation and biotechnology. Available from coarse filtration to sterile filtration (35 µm to 0.1 µm).
• ZP Range: Filters with high zeta potential provide both physical filtration and particle attraction based on electrical potential. Suitable for cosmetics production and DNA removal. Available from coarse filtration to sterile filtration (20 µm to 0.1 µm).

Treatment Filter

The treatment filter we discuss in this blog is the Activasorb filter sheet or module. This is a filter containing activated carbon. This filter is suitable for the adsorption of substances in liquids. Typical applications include deodorization, decolorization, and the removal of impurities in pharmaceutical applications as well as in the food and beverage industry.
